Continuing Education Units (CEUs)

The Chairman of the Arkansas Board of Private Investigators and Private Security Agencies presented the licensing board with requiring CEUs for alarm managers, technicians and agents during the January meeting.  The suggested requirement would be 8 hours per year, or 16 hours per two-year renewal cycle.  They would also allow many of the manufacturer's courses that are easily attained at local distributors.

The licensing board would now like your input.  Please email us and let us know if you are for or against required CEUs.

2007 Arkansas Fire Prevention Code

The Arkansas Fire Prevention Code, 2007 Edition, has been adopted and will go into affect on August 1, 2008.  The addendums are available for review in the members only section.

Mississippi gets Licensing

After years of being one of only a few states in the south without a licensing law, Mississippi finally adopted one.  Among other things, it requires a licensed company to have an office in the state.

Oklahoma Adds to Licensing

Monday, May 1st, Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry signed the Oklahoma Alarm and Locksmith Industry Act into law.  This law requires licensing for companies installing access control, closed circuit television, and nurse call systems.  The law takes effect on January 1st, 2007.  This adds to the license already required for burglar and fire alarm companies and employees.

Proposed changes to rules & regs.
